Things to do

Our Park is the perfect base for exploring the charms and treasures that this part of North Yorkshire has to offer.

Burneston itself, a historic village mentioned in the Doomsday Book, has an impressive 14th century parish church and 17th century almshouses all within walking distance of the Park.

Aysgarth Falls, North Yorkshire
Aysgarth Falls are a flight of waterfalls over an almost one-mile stretch of the River Ure.

There are a number of local public footpaths (to Snape & Carthorpe) and bridleways that can be accessed on foot direct from the Park, as well as being perfectly placed for enjoying some of the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire stages by bike (or car if you prefer).

Also within easy reach are the picturesque towns of Bedale, Masham, Northallerton, the county town, Thirsk and the Cathedral City of Ripon. You really are spoilt for choice being sandwiched between the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and the stunning North Yorkshire Moors.

Eating & drinking

North Yorkshire is spoilt for choice when it comes to finding great food and drink.

We are fortunate to have some characterful, friendly pubs within easy reach. The Woodman in the village offers superb home cooked grub with beer garden and lovely restaurant – and best of all it’s less than 5 minutes from your pitch!

On either side of Burneston are the villages of Exelby and Carthorpe, both of which have great pubs serving up delicious local food. Carthorpe is a short walk along the footpath and Exelby is an easy 5 minute bike ride.

We are spoilt for choice of butchers here which offer everything you can imagine – there’s a beautiful new greengrocers which I love to pop into every other day – Ballantyne’s chocolates (scrumptious!) – and of course we shouldn’t forget the market on a Tuesday, where you can pick up some delicious home-baked goodies from Bedale Bakery or a fresh catch from Carricks Fish Stall.
